URPP Adaptive Brain Circuits in Development and Learning (AdaBD)

Scientific Competence Centers & Academic Networks and Initiatives

The University Research Priority Program (URPP) Adaptive Brain Circuits in Development and Learning (AdaBD) is a network of researchers from the University of Zurich and the University Children’s Hospital Zurich. Using an interdisciplinary approach, ranging from the molecular to the systems level and translating between animal models and humans, our network aims to identify specific adaptations in neural circuit structure and function that are required for development and learning. We aim to establish causal links between learning deficits or developmental delay and impaired mechanisms of brain circuit adaptation. Finally, we aim to translate new insights from our research to the clinic and to develop new diagnostic tools as well as innovative treatment strategies.
