Swiss Personalized Health Network (SPHN)

Scientific Competence Centers & Academic Networks and Initiatives

The Swiss Personalized Health Network (SPHN) is a national initiative launched by the Swiss federal government, namely the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) and the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) in 2017 in order to promote personalized medicine and personalized health in Switzerland. SPHN contributes to the development, implementation, and validation of a nationally coordinated infrastructure as a basis for making health-related data interoperable and exchangeable across Switzerland. Both the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences (SAMS) and the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics are responsible for the implementation of the mandate. A total of CHF 68 million was allocated to the initiative for the period 2017-2020, and 66.9 for the period 2021-2024.
